“Based on true events” – Alexander Manotskov, composer.

The world was created somewhere – everyone agrees on this, believers, scientists and children. But how do you answer the childish question of where and how the world came into being? The biblical text about the six days of creation and the seventh day of well-deserved rest is transformed into the libretto of the chamber opera.

The audience is invited to participate in a game in which the world is created, the table is set for the Sabbath meal, and the perfection of creation is celebrated simultaneously. In the opera, traditional Eastern instruments are used alongside classical Western instruments – Indian harmonica and flute as well as the Persian santur.

“The Creation of the World or Kabbalat Shabbat” is an attempt at unification in a time of divisions. It is an open invitation to come together.
