Preserve My Words Forever

This is the story of the poet Osip Mandelstam, brought to life at the intersection of art forms and genres: puppet theatre, design, computer graphics and documentary filmmaking. The rebellious spirit of Mandelstam’s poetry was seen as a challenge to the authorities, and its author was destroyed by the state apparatus — he died in a transit camp.

Much of what he wrote might not have survived had it not been for his wife, Nadezhda, who learnt his works by heart and copied them out by hand — in anticipation of a time when they might be published.

Thanks to her, we know of something quite unlike anything else: ‘Preserve my words forever for the taste of misfortune and smoke… ”

‘Preserve My Words Forever’ is an original work by Roma Liberov, created through a synthesis of film, music, literature, puppet theatre and animation.
